Glenda Woodring fell in love with the Great Salt Lake when she first took her fourth graders to the Lake more than ten years ago. A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Glenda grew up in a rain forest full of life and wonders. As a child she loved to explore all the beauty her country had to offer. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from Central University of Venezuela. In 1995 she emigrated to the United States in search of a better life. She started teaching as a Dual Immersion teacher at Jackson Elementary School in 2004, teaching there until the school was closed in 2024. She then was reassigned to Newman Elementary. Glenda earned a master's degree in education from Southern Utah University and continues to participate in professional developments geared at taking students to engage in outdoor learning. She has been taking students to Antelope Island for over a decade and looks forward to instilling in new generations of students a love for the lake and a mindset to preserve it. In her free time, she loves running, hiking, skiing and traveling with her family.
