Coryna joined the FRIENDS Board in 2024. She spent her formative post-college years working seasonal jobs, mostly staring at plants, in Colorado, Alaska, Hawaii, and Utah. She realized her definitive desire to pursue habitat restoration and conservation after spending many months working and living on Kure Atoll, a remote seabird colony in Hawaii. She first moved to Salt Lake City in 2017 and soon thereafter fell in love with its diverse landscapes, including Great Salt Lake and its vast wetlands. She has an MS in Ecology from Utah State University where she researched restoration of native plant communities in Great Salt Lake wetlands. Coryna is a Regional Biologist for Ducks Unlimited, helping lead the organization’s conservation programs in Utah and southern Idaho, with a significant focus around Great Salt Lake. In her free time, Coryna can be found rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing, and hanging with her community of amazing friends.
