1/10: Stop the Polluting Ports Rally and Press Conference at the Capitol

A message from the Stop the Polluting Ports Coalition:

As the Utah Inland Port Authority barrels toward disastrous destruction of Great Salt Lake Basin wetlands our community continues to rise up to defend these places, to protect people and wildlife in the cross hairs of state sponsored fast-tracked industrial development.

Will you join us for a rally and press conference at the Utah State Capitol on January 10 at 2 pm in the Hall of Governors (1st floor) calling for a halt to the Port Authority’s assault on our communities and a full audit of their activities over the last 6 years?

On January 10, the Utah Inland Port Authority Board will meet to discuss several destructive measures including:

  • creation of an 8,966 acre publicly subsidized industrial park in Weber County next to Great Salt Lake and in between two Utah Waterfowl Management Areas,
  • creation of a Public Infrastructure District to issue taxpayer backed bonds to fund industrial development in Tooele County next to Great Salt Lake, and
  • expansion of the proposed Spanish Fork inland port into wetlands closer to Utah Lake.

After our rally and press conference we will be delivering a letter to leaders of the Utah legislature calling for a full performance audit of the Port Authority.

Please sign and share the letter (link is here or use QR code in image).

Let us know if you are able to join us on Jan 10 at 2 pm at the Utah State Capitol.

Thanks so much for all you do!
