4/14/22 Meeting Notice - Utah Watershed Council Act

Message from Utah Division of Water Resources:

Hi Everyone,

We wanted to provide you with an update on the implementation of the Watershed Councils in the state.

Since January 2022, we have continued to meet with additional stakeholders and determine which local watershed councils to set up first. We have identified the Bear River, Jordan River, Sevier River, Uintah Basin, and Weber River councils as the potential candidates for 2022. In the coming months, we will work with local stakeholders to convene several of these groups and determine how they would like to be established.

On Thursday, April 14, the Utah Watersheds Council will convene to finalize its policies, elect a chairperson, and discuss the state of water for 2022. This meeting will be from 1pm to 3pm in the Department of Natural Resources conference room. It will also be available online.

If you would like to watch previous council meeting or read the full notes, you may access them on the Utah Watersheds Council webpage. This meeting and all future meetings will be posted to this webpage.

Over the next few months, our objectives are to organize at least two local watershed councils for certification by the Utah Watersheds Council. Over the next 4 years as we organize and convene these local watershed councils, the Utah Watershed Councils webpage will be the place to go for regular updates and ongoing communication. Please let us know what other information would be helpful to you with this site.

As always, if you have any questions, please contact Dan Adams (801-520-4762 or dadams@langdongroupinc.com) or Todd Stonely (801-538-7277 or toddstonely@utah.gov).

Thanks,

Allison Adams
