General Counsel

Rob has served as General Counsel since 2019 and has represented FRIENDS as its attorney on Great Salt Lake issues since 2008. A Past President of the Board of FRIENDS, Rob previously worked as staff attorney for the Salt Lake City office of Western Resource Advocates, protecting against impacts from tar sands and oil shale development in the Book Cliffs area, ORV damage in Utah’s National Forests, and industrial air pollution along the Wasatch Front. Rob is a retired Air Force Major, having served as a Russian Cryptologic Linguist, a Combat Crew Commander and a Nuclear Arms Control Inspector in Russia and Ukraine under the START and INF treaties. He has a B.A. degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland, an M.B.A. from the University of Montana, and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Utah, with a Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law.
